discuss topics around this issue, determine the stage of change this person is in, and make suggestions for treatment.

In Unit VII of this course, you will submit a final research paper project. For the final project, you will write a case scenario. You will choose a health issue, create a case study, discuss topics around this issue, determine the stage of change this person is in, and make suggestions for treatment.

You will work on this project in pieces in Units III-VI of this course. As you complete each piece, you will submit it to the instructor for feedback. It will be important to allow yourself time to read the feedback and make the necessary corrections recommended by your instructor. In Unit VII, you will take the corrected pieces and compile them into one final paper.

In this unit, you will complete stages 1 and 2 of this paper. For stage 1, you will decide the health issue that you are going to use. Choose a health issue from the topics below, and then discuss four or five aspects of that health issue using information from scholarly sources (this can include your textbook). In this stage, describe those four or five aspects, the health issue, and the reason(s) why you chose that issue. The health issues to choose from are listed below:

  • obesity,
  • cancer,
  • anorexia nervosa,
  • bulimia,
  • alcoholism,
  • smoking,
  • stress,
  • heart disease,
  • hypertension,
  • stroke,
  • type 1 diabetes,
  • type 2 diabetes,
  • HIV infection and AIDS, or
  • arthritis.

For stage 2, you are to create a case study of your patient. The case study is a story of the patient’s medical history and issues. Personal details may need to be given to allow the reader to fully understand the case. In your draft, you should include personal information about your patient such as age, family history, job history, and other pertinent details about the patient. The case should include very detailed information about the disease and its effects on your patient. You will need to use two additional scholarly sources in addition to your textbook to support your description of your patient’s disease. If your case study is based on you or a real situation, you need to change names to protect anonymity, but you can also make up a fictional situation.

In summary, these are the items you will have in your case study at this point:

  • the patient’s personal and medical history,
  • detailed medical information and how it affects your patient,
  • the stage of the health issue and the stage of change, and
  • the four or five aspects of the health issue you chose.

Your case study should be no less than two pages. Use your textbook to address these issues, but you will need at least two scholarly sources in addition to your textbook for this paper, and one of those sources must come from the CSU Online Library. All references used, including your textbook, must be cited correctly in APA format, and your paper should be formatted in APA style.
