User password policy settings can be used to control the administration and management of user passwords. Account lockout policy settings determine how the operating system responds when a user enters an incorrect password. Imagine that you work for an organization where the leadership has asked you to create a technical guide that defines a User Account Password Policy and an Account Lockout Policy for Windows Server® 2016 users.

Use the Practice Labs, Windows Server® 2016 lab environment to take screenshots that demonstrate how to configure each of the settings defined in your User Account Password Policy and your Account Lockout Policy.

Create a 4- to 5-page technical guide that defines a User Account Password Policy and an Account Lockout Policy and shows how to implement each of these policies.

Your User Account Password Policy should define your organization’s policies for the following settings:

  • Enforce password history
  • Maximum password age
  • Minimum password age
  • Minimum password length
  • Password must meet complexity requirements
  • Store passwords using reversible encryption

Your Account Lockout Policy should define your organization’s policies for the settings:

  • Account lockout duration
  • Account lockout threshold
  • Reset account lockout counter after
