Dissertation 6000 WORDS Abstract which should be a potted version of the paper to include data obtained (approx. 300 words) Introduction (approx. 600 words) Background or Literature Review (scientific element) (approx. 800 words) Methodology eg keywords used in searches + lab experiments undertaken (approx. 500 words) Results Data obtained (for lab based) = overview of papers read (for literature) (if in table not counted) Discussion meaning of results obtained (approx. 2500 words) Conclusion final comments (approx. 500 words) References (not counted) You could include section on further studies (approx. 300 words) and limitations of the study (approx. 300 words) The word count is a guide only. Workbook 1500 WORDS MAX The workbook should be a record of your journey through the research and can be written in the first person. For literature based projects this should document all the papers that you have read and critical analysis of them. For lab based projects this should include your lab experiments + analysis of papers read Both types of research, document any problems encountered Remember the workbook is worth as much as the dissertation (45% each)
