The research will collect qualitative information on a number of factors. First, the research will aim at collecting information on the level of satisfaction of nurses have on working conditions in their work places. This shall be ranked on a scale ranging from highly satisfied to “highly dissatisfied”. Such data will help to know how many nurses leave their jobs due to dissatisfaction. Secondly, the research will also collect information on the perception of young people on the nursing profession. There are places where the supply of qualified nurses from academic institutions has been on the fall. It would be essential to collect data on how people view the nursing profession and whether it relates to the nurse shortage in hospitals (AACN, 2013). The survey will collect data on the salary levels of nurses at different academic qualification levels. This will help to ascertain whether salary has any relation with the shortage of nurses in hospitals today. Secondly, the research will also collect the number of nurses in the different age cohorts. There have been assumptions that the young generation tends to look for other places that have better working conditions compared to aged, who are often tolerant.
