DEVELOPING THE QUESTION IN THE NURSING PROFESSION,THE PICOT FORMAT

Developing the questionIn the nursing profession, the PICOT format is an essential method of identifying the research questions that are relevant for effects of treatment or therapy that is applied on the patients.PICOT stands for population (P),intervention (I),Comparison (C),outcome (O) and Time (T).In reference to my proposal, the PICO components are;Population; The low socio- economic status patients.Intervention; financial resources to access expensive health care services and medication.Comparison; insurance health cover.Outcome; affordability to all patientsThe PICOT question / statement is therefore ; in low socio economic status patients with serious health conditions (P),are the health care services (I) or health insurance (C), affordable to all citizens in the United States (O)?Literature reviewResearch based articlesTilburt, J. C., Wynia, M. K., Sheeler, R. D., Thorsteinsdottir, B., James, K. M., Egginton, J. S., … & Goold, S. D. (2013). Views of US physicians about controlling health care costs. Jama, 310(4), 380-389.This article focuses on assessing the attitudes of physicians towards the issue of the costs of health care. Some physicians in US were randomly selected to respond to the issue. The physicians agreed that that they had an obligation to address the topic of health care costs. They agreed that the costs could be reduced using quality initiatives. The article also states that the high cost of health services in US puts as strain on the economy. The health care providers have a responsibility in monitoring the quality and expenses on healthcare. It therefore supports my proposal change that physicians should seek ways of regulating the costs of healthcare(Tilburt et.al.,2013).Sommers, B. D., Buchmueller, T., Decker, S.
