You should choose one question from the following two questions: 1. Suggest and critically appraise a new procedure (that is your own idea and not already being used) to enhance the current guidance for interviewers to enable people with intellectual disabilities who are witnesses/ victims to communicate their best evidence. Commencing with an overall critical rationale as to why this new guidance is needed, fully outline your new guidance. Critically evaluate the usefulness of this new guidance and discuss how your suggested change will impact, both positively and negatively, on the current guidance. N.B. Based on Wales legislation OR 2. Critically appraise the benefits, if any, of an investigative interviewer having interviewed one witness with an ASC or Learning Disability, on interviewing a second witness with a similar diagnosed condition. N.B. Here the focus should be on individual differences. What are the possible similarities, if any, and likely differences between the witnesses that may help or hinder the investigative interviewer. Remember to think about all aspects that may affect the witnesss ability to provide a full and accurate account. NB. Both of these essays require you to refer to the wider literature on investigative interviewing of people with intellectual disabilities or autism, as appropriate.
